PC Technician - Recover damaged user profile windows xp

Recover damaged user profile windows xp - try this

If when you try to log on to windows xp you get this message:
"Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. You may be logged in using a temporary User Profile"

To resolve this problem there are two ways to recover your user profile.

1. This method is the one I tried first it can be found HERE.
It does work but it took me about 2 hours to copy the files (about 46 GB ) as given in the
the microsoft support article. Also, after I completed the process - my
email program ( Incredimail) thought that it was a fresh installation of the
program - so I would have lost all my email messages and settings. Ugh!
This is no good. So I looked for another way to solve this problem.
2. The second method is the one I used. This was really simple and took about
10 minutes. All you have to do is click on

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

And make sure that the radio button that reads
"Restore my computer to an earlier time" is pressed.
Then click on "Next" - In my case, I restored my system that was about
two days from the current date ( the day my computer reported the corrupt
profile ). So you can pick your date then click next, and let the restore program
    do its thing.

So now my computer is back to normal ( as of two days ago ) including my email program and all desktop icons organized as before.
